By accessing and using SplitReceipts ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the Service.

2. Description of Service

SplitReceipts is an AI-powered receipt scanning and expense tracking application that allows you to:

  • Upload receipt images
  • Automatically extract receipt data using AI
  • Categorize and organize expenses
  • Generate reports and export data
  • Sync receipts to Google Sheets
  • Track spending over time

3. User Accounts

3.1 Account Creation

You must create an account to use the Service. You agree to:

  • Provide accurate and complete information
  • Maintain the security of your password
  • Notify us immediately of any unauthorized access
  • Be responsible for all activities under your account

3.2 Account Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms or engage in fraudulent, abusive, or illegal activities.

4. User Content

4.1 Your Data

You retain ownership of all receipt images and data you upload ("Your Content"). By uploading content, you grant us a license to:

  • Store and process your receipt images using AI services
  • Display your content back to you within the Service
  • Generate reports and analytics from your data

4.2 Your Responsibilities

You agree not to upload content that:

  • Violates any laws or regulations
  • Contains malware or harmful code
  • Infringes on others' intellectual property rights
  • Contains personal information of others without consent

4.3 Data Deletion

You can delete individual receipts or your entire account at any time. When you delete your account, all associated data will be permanently removed from our servers within 30 days.

5. AI Processing and Accuracy

We use third-party AI services (Google Gemini) to analyze receipt images. You acknowledge that:

  • AI-extracted data may contain errors or inaccuracies
  • You are responsible for reviewing and correcting extracted data
  • We are not liable for errors in AI-generated results
  • Receipt images are sent to third-party AI providers for processing

6. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • Use the Service for any illegal purpose
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to our systems
  • Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the Service
  • Upload excessive amounts of data to overwhelm our systems
  • Share your account credentials with others
  • Use automated tools to scrape or download data at scale

7. Credits and Payments

7.1 Credit System

Receipt scanning requires credits. You receive 5 free credits when you create an account. Additional credits can be purchased through our credit packs:

  • Starter Pack: 50 credits for $4.99
  • Popular Pack: 150 credits for $9.99
  • Best Value Pack: 400 credits for $19.99

Credits are consumed when you scan a receipt. One credit equals one receipt scan. Credits do not expire and are non-refundable.

7.2 Payment Processing

All payments are processed securely through Polar.sh, a third-party payment processor. We do not store your payment information. Your use of Polar.sh is subject to their Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.

7.3 Refund Policy

Credits are non-refundable once purchased. If you experience technical issues that prevent you from using purchased credits, please contact us through the feedback form and we will investigate on a case-by-case basis.

8. Third-Party Services

The Service integrates with third-party services including:

  • Google Gemini: For AI-powered receipt analysis
  • Google Sheets: For optional receipt data syncing and export
  • Convex: For data storage and backend services
  • Polar.sh: For secure payment processing

Your use of these services is subject to their respective terms and privacy policies. We are not responsible for third-party services.

9. Intellectual Property

The Service, including its design, code, features, and documentation, is owned by us and protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, or distribute any part of the Service without our permission.

10. Disclaimer of Warranties

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT:

  • The Service will be uninterrupted or error-free
  • Defects will be corrected
  • The Service is free of viruses or harmful components
  • AI-extracted data will be accurate or complete

11. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE, INCLUDING:

  • Loss of data or receipts
  • Inaccurate expense reports or tax calculations
  • Financial losses from relying on the Service
  • Service interruptions or downtime

12. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from any claims, damages, or expenses arising from your use of the Service or violation of these Terms.

13. Privacy

Your use of the Service is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which explains how we collect and use your data.

14. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms at any time. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the new Terms. We will notify you of significant changes by updating the "Last Updated" date.

15. Termination

You may stop using the Service at any time by deleting your account. We may terminate or suspend your access immediately for violations of these Terms.

16. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of your jurisdiction. Any disputes will be resolved through binding arbitration or in the courts of your jurisdiction.
